Lord of the Rings is one of the biggest entertainment IPs in the world. Thanks to the popular book series that was then adapted into some of the most critically acclaimed movies of all time, with Return of the King sweeping the Oscars in particular.
Lord of the Rings has an absolutely massive fanbase all across the political spectrum. However, this means that alot of the worst people in the entire world are also big fans of LOTR and we have to ask why…?
This is nothing new. The far-right have always loved Tolkien’s work, which was a ripe canvass to project any worldview they had. This was seen most prominently in 1970/80s Italy, which produced the new PM Giorgia Meloni.
Dune has never been more popular since the release of Dune Part II this year, and Dune Part I in 2021. A HBO prequel show is releasing this year, and a video game is also releasing next year. It’s a good time to be a Dune fan. Frank Herbert was a Conservative Libertarian, who wrote his six Dune books to be a warning about charismatic leaders inspired by people like JFK from his time. It also promoted libertarian ideology and clearly had an appreciation of various different Islamic cultures – with the Fremen clearly being Muslim themselves with Paul Atreides.
Despite the political messaging of Dune, it has found an audience across the political spectrum. Leftists enjoy Dune because they like the use of real life anti-colonial movements as an inspiration for the Fremen’s struggle against the Harkonnen and the Empire. They also enjoy the critique of Oil and OPEC through their standing of Spice and CHOAM. Indeed, Denis Villeneuve is a leftist director who made changes to the source material to portray a leftist version of the source materials in his movies.
However, fascists like Elon Musk and Richard Spencer also like the books – mainly latching on to Paul Atreides, breeding programs and bloodlines. Yet unlike the leftist interpretation, fascists completely ignore the messages of the book to twist Dune into something compatible with their worldview.
On July 31st 2020, The Kavernacle uploaded a video outlining his issues with the content of Mr Beast. He said Beast was exploiting poverty and desperation for content and he wasn’t a good guy. The Kavernacle would follow this up with another video that year where he outlined his problems with Beast overall after it was exposed that he took Pandemic Relief loans despite spending millions on stunts and gifts for his friends on camera. In the years since The Kavernacle has covered his tasteless charity content.
The Kavernacle has faced widespread backlash for years from all sides of the political spectrum for challenging this carefully cultivated image Mr Beast made for himself. Recently, a former employee made a video exposing Mr Beast for faking content and manipulating his audience – and just like that – everyone now hates Mr Beast. Exactly 4 years after The Kavernacle was basically the first YouTuber to call him out.
The UK election will almost certainly see the destruction of the modern Tory party as we know it. But does that mean the country will be saved? No. Neoliberal ‘Labour’ is set to continue most Tory policies but just promise to do them more efficiently.
Back in 2015, you could simply grift on being a gay classical liberal and get millions of dollars thrown at you to build a platform. Fast forward to 2024, and things have got abit more complicated. The racist TikTok trad wife got a lot of hate and praise last week for casually dropping some racist language in a cooking video. She thought it was her ticket to a conservative media career, little did she expect they amount of severe brain rot now running rampant in conservative circles. It doesn’t seem like she’ll last long with such backlash.
Population growth under our capitalist system is seen as a major issue. Since our economic system relies on over consumption and the commodification of essentials, rising populations are set to put an even bigger strain on the environment. In certain countries however, most famously Japan, there are declining populations that also pose their own economic issues. But broadly, declining populations are not an issue globally.
In 2020, The Rock recorded a lengthy video where he endorsed Joe Biden for President. In this video he also spoke to Biden and Kamala Harris on a Zoom call explaining why he supported Biden.
Fast forward to 2024, the Rock has told Fox News he regrets the endorsement, has told Joe Rogan he isn’t friends with any Biden supporters, is doing business collabs with Conservative podcaster Patrick Bet-David. while also complaining about Cancel Culture and Wokeness on Fox News.
The Rock has always, and still does, describe himself as a centrist – but its clear he is moving increasingly to the Right.
In 2022, the most divorced man in the entire world bought Twitter as part of his mid life crisis. Elon Musk epitomises everything wrong with Conservative Divorced Men, blaming his children for their strained relationship which is directly caused by his right-wing politics – and then deciding to get even worse in this regard while playing the victim.
Stand up comics aren’t doing well. Losing popularity and relevance has made them lash out. They now blame leftists for ruining comedy because we are oh so sensitive to their utterly hilarious (yet shockingly offensive) firebrand humour…
The BBC has enjoys a pretty good international reputation, with an international service with various offshoots in other countries in many different languages. However, the BBC represents some of the many problems with British journalism which are unique to this hell hole of an island – and has largely become a propaganda machine for the Tory party.
Tory donours (who are bankers) buying jobs at the BBC through dodgy loans, heads of political sections of newspapers getting jobs for the PM, the head of the Brexit and 2017 election coverage at the BBC leaving to work for Theresa May – and then coming back to work at the BBC, every single columnist at the big newspapers being from the aristocracy, and of course every single journalist going to Eton and Oxbridge – all of this and more you will find in the British press!
